- Thanks for responding.
-
- Still not able to get a dial tone. I altered the
- connections as follows:
-
- BT Plug (431A) US Plug (RJ11)
- ------- -------
- pin 1
- 2 |--------red wire
- 3<---------| blue
- 4<---------| green
- 5 |--------white
- 6
- locking bar
-
- Also, I connected blue to pin 2 and green to pin
- 5.
-
- The BT end of the altered linecord went into a
- two-way connector and the US end went into the
- 'phone' jack of the internal modem card. My
- telephone plug was removed from the wall socket
- and fitted into the other end of the two-way
- connector.
-
- Finally, a 431A plug to RJ11 plug linecord (from
- Tandy and unaltered) connects the wall socket with
- the modem 'line' jack.
-
- Is this the right idea?
-
- Incidentally, the way the modem works at present
- is via a dual 431A plug adapter fitted into the
- wall socket. But I just want to see if the other
- method works (remembering past frustrations).
